  • Responsibilities

    • Process and review weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly payroll, including off-cycles and bonuses
    • Review weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll returns and payments
    • Monitor changes to federal, state, local and railroad taxes and reporting
    • Review monthly and quarterly Sales & Use tax returns
    • Analyze Sales and Local Discretionary Tax in response to Purchasing policies
    • Prepare and review month-end journal entries and account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness
    • Review Owner Operator Settlements
    • Coordinate with Finance and HR to develop annual payroll budget
    • Responsible for Pacific Timesheet and Paperless Ticket timekeeping systems
    • Responsible for Enterprise One (E1) payroll configuration and testing process
    • Prepare periodical payroll-related analysis and projections
    • Resolution of payroll issues
    • Create ad hoc accounts payable and payroll reports upon request
    • Program Administrator for Purchasing Card Program
    • Provide excellent customer service to all employees and outside vendors
    • Work with Operations management and Corporate personnel on accounts payable and payroll issues
    • Responsible for coordinating documentation to auditors
    • Maintain training documentation and departmental policies
    • Improve departmental processes
    • Supervise, train, and mentor staff
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Education / Experience Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
    • Prior Payroll Enterprise One (E1) experience required
    • 3+ years payroll, 1 + years supervisory experience preferred
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Strong knowledge of Excel
    • Strong interpersonal and excellent organizational skills
    • Prior experience in the railroad industry or with Rail Road Retirement a strong plus
