  • Overview

    Responsible for designing, developing, teaching, implementing and maintaining environmental, health, safety and operational/maintenance procedures. Responsible to train employees on RWP and Fall Protection programs. These programs will be in place to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Company policies and procedures.


    • Plans and implements Florida East Coast Railway safety policies and procedures in compliance with FRA regulations
    • Performs job hazard analysis and makes recommendations to minimize hazards
    • Trains and coaches all employees of worksite safety practices
    • Conduct frequent annual RWP and Fall Protection Training for contractors working on FEC Right of Way
    • Audit Safety process and performance of various track construction contractors working on FEC Right of Way
    • Determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
    • Leads investigations of safety incidents and leads the field employees, supervisors and managers in determining the root causes
    • Submits incident and inspection reports in a timely manner complying with all local, state and federal regulations and laws and FEC policies
    • Maintains safety files and records
    • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization


    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
    • Minimum of 10 years of railroad experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of railroad experience in Engineering
    • Firm understanding of FRA rules/regulations, as well as company specific guidelines

    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Organizational skills, attention to detail, as well as proven analytical ability
    • Strong problem solving skills, ability to use good business judgment and attentive decision making
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to interact across different levels of the organization and with external clients
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, financial reports and procedure manuals
    • Outstanding leadership abilities including problem solving, interpersonal communications, goal orientation, teaching/coaching, self-discipline and systemic thinking
    • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods while working in a team environment


    • Up to 80% travel required
    • Work hours may include a non-standard work week
    • Must pass a background and drug screening
    • Must be fluent in both English and Spanish
