Responsible for all day to day mechanical freight car operations in Hialeah yard and surrounding areas. Must be familiar with both FRA and AAR regulations. Also, assist Locomotive and Intermodal operations when needed.
• Oversees the development of Freight Car, Locomotive and Intermodal procedures for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of Freight Cars, Locomotives and Intermodal equipment.
• Develop and implement the use of a maintenance records system (through use of an equipment maintenance management module) to track periodic maintenance and running repairs.
• Issue the appropriate FRA reports and ensure compliance.
• Train appropriate personnel in the daily use of these databases as required.
• Developing managerial reports to optimize database reports.
• Provide in-house training on Maintenance of Equipment software programs.
• Provide administrative and operations support as may be needed for the Chief Mechanical Officer.
• AS degree or 10 years related experience and/or training in all aspects of Freight Car, Locomotive and Intermodal maintenance.
• Ability create and analyze reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Must be proficient with computers including all Windows Applications and AS400.
• Must have Florida D/L; and be knowledgeable of FRA, AAR and DOT regulations.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can become loud when performing duties in the field.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• AS degree or 10 years related experience in all aspects of Freight Car or Car Maintenance of Equipment operations.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, profession-al journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as data analysis associated with overhaul, periodic maintenance, and supplier contracts.
• Ability to evaluate technical information associated with Component parts engineering reports and analysis.
• Must hold a Florida’s Driver’s License

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Night and weekend availability to deal with situations as they arise in an effort to keep railroad operations running smoothly
• Some general travel required to respond to line of road situations in a timely manner
