Overview

IMEX USA is a provider of railroad terminal services in Florida.  We are seeking a motivated and determined Gate Supervisor responsible for managing the team that oversees the day-to-day gate operations of IMEX intermodal facilities. The incumbent will possess the following skills: 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including executive.
  • Leadership and the ability to motivate employees. Ability to prioritize multiple, and often, competing obligations.
  • Ability to assist in conflict resolution and mediation between co-workers.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Able to plan labor needs in advance.
  • Assures that personnel are meeting the performance levels of the productivity goals and maintaining acceptable service levels based on set company standards.
  • Helps track and update system issues and problems.
  • Ensure that all inbound and outbound intermodal units are being entered into the system using an automated computerized gate system and/or handheld device.
  • Intermodal or management experience a plus, but willing to invest and train the right individuals.
  • Strong knowledge and focus on safety and compliance with the ability to consult with and train staff on the subject.
  • Strong desire to train and upskill team members.
  • Applicants must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays that fall on your rotation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

High School Diploma or equivalent required.  A.A./A.S. Degree preferred, but not required.  Intermodal and/or railroad experience a plus. 

Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as data associated with overhaul, periodic maintenance and supplier contracts.  Ability to evaluate technical information associated with Component parts engineering reports and analysis.

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Must have moderate degree of computer skills in Windows operating systems; internet communications; and proficiently use Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel programs.  Must also have ability to learn and utilize skills necessary to optimize AS 400 modules and resources as well as other applicable software programs.

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, OR REGISTRATIONS

 

Must have Florida driver's license
