The Safety/Training Manager is responsible for designing, developing implementing and maintaining environmental, health, safety and operational/maintenance procedures. These programs will be in place to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Company policies and procedures
• Plans and implements Florida East Coast Railway safety policies and procedures in compliance with FRA regulations
• Performs job hazard analysis and makes recommendations to minimize hazards.
• Inspects locations and equipment to detect existing or potential safety and health hazards.
• Determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
• Submits incident and inspection reports in a timely manner complying with all local, state and federal regulations and laws and FEC policies
• Maintains safety and federal files and records
• Knowledge of operating rules/safety rules.
• Must possess excellent “people” and “communication” skills.
• Must possess valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
• Conducts and develops safety, rules and first aid training to educate workers about safety policies, laws, and practices; demonstrates use of safety equipment; participates in the in-vestigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for Company use in hearings when needed.
• Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and material for display, promotional work, conferences and exhibitions; represents the Company in community or industry safety groups and programs; maintains safety files and records.
• Will be expected to maintain fully functional safety committee across the property

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent, work experience required (5-10 years previous Railroad experience)
• Firm understanding of FRA rules/regulations, as well as company specific guidelines.
• Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office products required (Word, Outlook, Power-Point, Excel)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Up to 80% travel required
• Work hours may include a non-standard work week
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write re-ports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
