Overview

Timely processing payroll for employees, maintain payroll records, and help ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements along with assisting employees with benefit inquiries.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews time sheets, work charts, and time cards for completeness
  • Enter and update employee payroll and benefit data (Hours worked, wages, deductions)
  • Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions
  • Computes vacation and sick pay allowances
  • Processes payroll for various departments
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by department leader
  • Ensure payroll is processed on time
  • Help ensure payroll practices follow federal, state, and local laws
  • Respond to basic payroll and benefit related inquiries from employees
  • Work closely with HR and accounting departments
  • Handle sensitive payroll and employee data with strict confidentiality
  • Assist with benefit orientations for new hires
  • Prepare and submit payment vouchers timely after payroll is processed

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 or more years of experience required in payroll
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel

 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting
  • JD Edwards (Enterprise One) experience
  • Railroad industry experience

  • Ability to schedule and manage people and projects in order to meet deadlines

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Up to 10% travel may be required
  • Ability to work overtime, nights and/or weekends as needed
  • Valid driver’s license
  • The applicant selected for this position will be required to successfully complete a background check and drug test
  • Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position
