The Raven Transport has an opening for a Load Planner who will provide safe and effective management and retention of Company Drivers, ensure adherence to Federal, State, and Company policies and procedures. They will be responsible for the cost effective use of resources including contractors, equipment, and supplies and will assign motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight by performing the following:
Responsible for the efficient planning of Drivers for shipments tendered by Raven clients to enable high production out of each unit, and for the supervision of assigned Owner Operators to ensure the highest possible utilization within DOT regulations and company policy, and ensure on-time delivery performance for customers; work in tandem with dispatchers in the TL2000 system in a real-time environment; assist dispatchers in handling daily check calls by assigned Drivers and ensure the Drivers are in compliance with company policy; monitor and communicate all service failures of assigned owner operators to the Director of Operations and the Customer Service Team; liaison all Safety and compliance issues regarding assigned Owner Operators to the Safety department to be sure Owner Operators remain in DOT compliance; assist with recruiting efforts as necessary, including but not limited to, interface with Safety Department to address performance issues; approve settlement corrections as necessary; provide complete load information to ensure Owner Operators are fully prepared for their next work assignment; Assist in the recruiting and orientation process ensuring all new hires meet all company minimum qualification standards and regulatory agency requirements; responsible and accountable for owner operator performance issues; participate in Safety functions and Company events; responsible for scanning all relevant shipping documents; manages night and weekend operations on a rotation schedule; record the daily hours of service and monitor daily and weekly to ensure DOT compliance; maintain files and monitor repairs on rail and non-rail equipment; maintain close communication with Raven's customer base.
• Must be familiar with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, issued by the U. S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Adminis¬tration; safety rules and instructions; in-bond regulations for customs.
• Able to handle multiple tasks in a high profile and fast paced environment
• Able to perform computer function in a real time environment; proficient in multi-line telephone with strong telephone skills; strong PC computer skills with Microsoft Office and related software products; able to adapt to a variety of personalities as it relates to Owner Operators McLeod operating systems experience.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or two years related experience may be substituted for each year of college.
• Strong operational background in transportation industry with dispatch experience preferred
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, with internal and external executive level management
• Must be able to work flexible schedule to include nights, holidays, and weekends as assigned.
