Join Our Team as a Gate Inspector – Ft. Pierce Night Shift Schedule.

 

In this position, you’ll spend long periods sitting while monitoring and inspecting incoming and outgoing equipment—but don’t worry, your role is far from boring. As the first line of quality and safety, you’ll make sure every container, chassis, and trailer that passes through the gate meets our standards and is properly documented. Your sharp eye and steady focus help keep our entire operation running smoothly and safely.

 

Pay is 17.35 an hour. 

 

Hours: Monday- Friday 11PM-7AM

 

Possibility for shift change due to holidays, vacation, etc. 

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Performs inspections on all inbound and outbound intermodal units using an automated computerized gate system and/or handheld device.
• perform a "walk around" inspection of each unit, looking for any damage to freight before it enters the railyard facility, and accurately input data.
• Climb up and down a rolling stepladder to change paper rolls on Kiosks.
• Use of a headset with a microphone to communicate with drivers.
• Use Windows programs for details on transactions and corrections to transactions.
• Notes the conditions of trailers, chassis or containers after inspection
• Control access onto facilities.
• Maintains assigned equipment & ensures work area is clean and orderly.
• Performs work in accordance with established safety & quality management procedures.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A valid Driver’s License
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Company will train.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

 

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
