JOB SUMMARY

Manages the safe and efficient day-to-day main line operation to ensure on-time performance while meeting Florida East Coast Railway’s service commitments.   

  • Manage crews and locomotive fleet to maximize utilization, minimize disruptions, control costs and ensure efficient operation
  • Manage daily train operations; ensuring compliance of working procedures and practices
  • Lead with clear direction and goals, required competencies, resources, and motivation
  • Build safety compliance and improve safety results through regular efficiency tests, safety blitzes and walkabouts
  • Manage the on-boarding and training activities of new employees and ensure they acquire the proper skills to perform their roles
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with internal and external customers 
  • Define, document, problem solve and manage processes and procedures to protect revenue service, construction, maintenance activities and performance matrices
  • Consistently maintain on-time performance, tracking internal and external reporting requirements
  • Lead job briefings with Maintenance of Way, Communication and Signal employees and or contractors as needed
  • Make quality work related decisions based on sound conclusions and or data; ability to separate facts from opinions
  • Identify work windows for Signal Dept, MOW forces and contractors to maximize track time and minimize cost and train delay
  • Maintain Train Dispatcher daily workforce schedule and payroll
  • Work with Brightline and other passenger rail supervision as necessary to ensure efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned
